Dan Hampton, The New York Times and international bestselling author, is one of the most decorated fighter pilots since the Vietnam War. A former lieutenant colonel, he has been awarded a Purple Heart, four Distinguished Flying Crosses with Valor and eight Air Medals with Valor. Throughout his 20-year career he flew 151 combat missions in the Middle East during both Gulf Wars, and is graduate of the elite USAF Fighter Weapons School, USN Top Gun School (TOGS), and USAF Special Operations School. Dan has lived abroad extensively in Europe and the Middle East, and was an exchange officer with the Egyptian Air Force.
